Object iveTo initial assess criterion-related validity and responsiveness, we use the traditional Chinese medicine quality of life scale test patients before and after Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment and compare the change. The purpose of this study is offering clinical reference to improve the scale, making it as an accepted and effective Traditional Chinese Medicine therapeutic advantage of PD assessment tool, used widely across the country.MethodsIn this research which was based on the process of Quality of Life questionnaire development, we used the before-after study in the same individuals method and the interview form. The scale and Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale were used to test 50 Parkinson's Disease patients before and after the Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment 1 month later. Finally, we analysed criterion-related validity and responsiveness of the scale with SPSS 17.0 by compared with UPDRS which was required as the gold standard scale.Results1. Compared with UPDRS, there are good correlations among domains. It showed that the scale's criterion-related validity was good.2. In this study, we chose Wilcoxon's rank sum test as the method of inspection. After the statistical calculation, we fond that both scales could reflect the changes of Quality of Life before and after the treatment, the results were significantly different (P<0.05).3. According to the results, the responsiveness of both scales is moderate to Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment. Further more, the scale is more sensitive than UPDRS. But the dimensions of social relationships and environmental factors are less sensitive, still need further study.ConclusionThe Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality of Life Scale has a good criterion-related validity and better responsiveness to Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment. But the sensitivity of dimensions of unsatisfactory, needs to be multi-center clinical study of large sample to further amend and perfect.
