The new revolutionary historical novels have welcomed the prosperity in the context of mass culture since the 1990s. My thesis from the standpoint of the mass culture, taking Years of Burning Passion, Drawing Sword and the Sky of the History as an example, interpret the context of mass culture, narrative features, main creative feature, the value purpose among culture choice, and commercial tendency.This paper is made up of four parts. The paper's introduction talks about the concept of the new revolutionary historical novels, the mass culture and so on. Then the paper outlines its research orientation, scope, the methods and the significance of the research.The chapter two analyzes the cultural context of the new revolutionary historical novels. There is a cultural tradition between the new revolutionary historical novels and the masses. There is an correspondence between the rise of the new revolutionary historical novels and the mass culture.The chapter three interprets the narrative features of the masses on the new revolutionary historical novels. From popular standpoint, the novels tells the origin of the revolutionary, emotional life and the return of humanity of their personality. Through the description of the legendary, experience of heroes, and earthly life, the revolutionary history novels present the characteristics under the consumption age.The chapter four discourses cultural value orientation of the new revolutionary historical novels in the consumption age. Between the dominant culture and the mass culture, the novels represent a spiritual taste which fills of enterprising spirit and popular interest. The reciprocity between the new revolutionary historical novels and the cultural industry provides new opportunities and challenges for the novels.
