In the 20th century Chinese literature, Jin Yong's novels is one of the most influential literature. At past, as a martial's novel, it always was the marginalization of literary works. But as a result of Jin Yong's effort, it obtained the great success. What's the characteristics and breakthrough of Jin Yong's novels? And what's its value on the literary history? Academics have discussed these questions for nearly 20 years. This thesis mainly insists the thematic methods.It sets out from the discussion of the Revenge Mode, and analyzes the effect that Jin Yong's novels has been affected by Western literature.Revenge is an important motif of literature. There are many differences between Chinese and western revenge's concepts. In Chinese traditional literature,it advocated to revenge for consanguinity. With the developing of society, the new martial's novels come to oppugn and sublate it. Jin Yong's novels sublate it more. Jin Yong breaks the traditional mode of revenging for consanguinity,and constructs the new revenge mode which center is the conflict of loves. The main transformation of Jin Yong's novels'Westernization is transforming the revenging for consanguinity to the revenging for oneself, and transforming the simple right revenges to accepting multeity's possibilities.
