The Research Of The Serial Verb Structure Of Zhan Guo Ce

The serial verb structure is not only one of the most characteristic grammar structures,but also one of the ot issues in the studying field of grammar. The grammar is analysed on three different aspects——syntax, semantics and pragmatics.During the analysis, the form and the meaning are both paid attention to,and it also values the description and the practicability.It combines the foreign grammar theories with the Chinese language facts. Under the guidance of professor Zhang,I wrote this article to study the serial verb structure of the book Zhan Guo Ce by using the three aspects theory,and it also carried on under quantity and quality. This article is divided into six parts:The first part mainly discusses the status of the research about this issue.At present,the language experts have the following three disputes :whether it exsits or not,how to make sure the definition standard,and the semantic relation between the verbs.On the basis of summarize above,I try to conclude my own definition standard and to tell the difference between the serial verb structure and other structures that have the similar structure.The second part mainly analyse the serial verb structure from the syntax aspect.The verbs in this structure are made up of two types,the routine verbs and the nouns and the adjective words used as a verb.Meanwhile, Zhan Guo Ce mainly records the words for lobbing other emperors and the endless wars between different kingdoms.So it makes the verbs show some special characteristics,such as the verbs which mean oral language are used frequently. It is also allowed that the conjunctions in the serial verb structure don not exist at all.There are both one-syllable conjunction and a few compound conjunctions too,and they have the uneven distribution.Then the article continues to find out the types of the serial verb sentences of the book. The third part mainly analyse the serial verb structure from the semantic aspect. According to the differences that expressed,the verbs can be divided into nine kinds. The permutation order of the verbs also has a certain regularity.And the subjects of these structures also have many kinds according to the semantic category. At the same time, the verbs have showed many complex semantic relations between each other.The fourth part mainly analyse the structure from the pragmatic aspect. Seen from the expression tone,the sentences have already been divided into four types:interrogative sentence,imperative sentence and exclamation sentence and illustrated sentence.The topic and the statement can be divided into many forms. Meanwhile,the statement also shows its uniqe value by affacting the express viewpoint.The fifth part mainly discusses the relation between the serial verb structure and the dong-qu structure. The dong-qu structure patterns are very complex and various.,and some may use conjunctives.Compared with other language materials,we are able to draw the conclusion that the serial verb structure in the Zhan Guo Ce has not changed into the dong-qu structure.The sixth part summarizes the whole paper.It stressed the three characteristics in the developing period,it also tells the problems I have encountered in writing and the shortcomings too.
