The Study Of "Yi V Zai V "in Moden Chinese

Though'Yi Verb Zai Verb'is popularly used in modern Chinese, especially in spoken Chinese, related studies are rare. On the basis of large amount of language data, this paper attentively explores the construction, meaning and function of this pattern and their internal regularity.This paper has seven chapters. Chapter One, as introduction, presents the content and significance of this study, reviews findings and current situation of this question linguists explore abroad and at home, makes out the study method and language data sources. The main part of this paper, from Chapter Two to Chapter Six, investigates the internal construction, syntactic function, grammar meaning and pragmatic feature, compares similar language patterns conclusively, and explains them theoretically. Chapter Seven, as the conclusion of this paper, explains study value and points out questions waiting for further study.Through the study of this paper, we find that, the internal construction of'Yi Verb Zai Verb':"Yi"and"Zai"experience dummy in large degree, modify the verb in the pattern, and influence the whole grammar meaning of the pattern; the"Verb"within the pattern has obvious features—mainly specific active verbs with one syllable and other parts of speech possessing obvious verb feature because of its obligatorily experiencing"verbalization". As language pattern of predicate, the"Verb"mainly functions as predicate or the head of predicate in sentence and it is so intransitive that there is no object behind it. Through the analysis, we conclude features of the pattern as repetitive, durative and subjective. Meanwhile, as the pattern of intensive oral language,'Yi Verb Zai Verb', which is concise and meaningful, has abundant emotional color. Through the analysis of its comparison with parallelism, we conclude synchronic similarities and describe differences between"Yi Verb Zai Verb"and"Yi Zai Verb". On the basis of the above analysis, we supply the view of"Construction Category", which thinks that the pattern or meaning of"Category"in language system can be explored and analyzed from the perspective of"Categorization". Finally, from cognitive perspective, we find the theoretical explanation and support for"Construction Category"and support.
