Globalization and informationization have considerably narrowed the distance between countries, and thus cultures from different countries have been integrated and clashed in depth and frequency, which minimizes the likelihood for each country to be isolated from outside world and be independent of the rest. Such frequent international contacts have been complicated the issues of national safety. On the one hand, globalization gives rise to commercialization of culture, which in turn contributes to popularization of culture. Accordingly, culture itself goes beyond its geographical boundaries and starts to expose to international cultural context and adapts to change in response to cultural trend from the outside world. On the other hand, globalization enhances national sense of crisis, and at the same time, it generates the sense of anxiety about cultural assimilation of host culture by foreign cultures in countries including developed countries as well as developing countries. What is in point is that globalization is directly and closely associated with national cultural safety. As a result of this, with the development of globalization, national cultural safety emerges as an increasingly conspicuous issue. Currently, cultural safety is not a problem unique to developing countries but developed countries. What makes difference is the urgency in countries. The so-called culture safety is to prevent national cultural life from the penetration and erosion of by other countries, and to protect people's values, behaviors, and social system from not being recreated and assimilated. It is a kind of cultural strategy against cultural permeation and cultural assimilation. Generally speaking, Chinese cultural safety is now facing two main kinds of threats. They are domestic problems and foreign invasions which will be discussed in the subsequent sections of this thesis.Under the immense pressure from Western culture, Chinese scholars began to research on the cultural safety in succession in 1980s, and they are still endeavoring to go deeper into it. This thesis generally centers on the achievements of them and aims to put forward some positive counter-measure so as to resolve some typical problems in Chinese cultural safety strategies.
