A Research On The Relationship Between Forgiveness And Aggression Of High School Students

The research adopts two measuring scales: the senior high school students'forgiveness scale revised by Kong Dejiao, and the aggressive behavior questionaire revised by Ni Linying, to test about 500 senior high school students of three senior high schools in Kai Feng. It selects these students as the norm to investigate the current situation of their forgiveness and the aggressiveness behavior. In the research, the discrepancy of senior high school students'forgiveness that reflected on their basic information will be discussed. The basic information includes students'genders, whether they are the only child in their family, their school ranks, whether they are liberal arts students or science ones, their homeplaces, grades and so on. Then the research studies the relation between dimensionalities of senior high school students'forgiveness and that of their aggressiveness behavior. Here are research conclusions.Firstly, the general forgiveness level of senior high school students'is a medium one, while their aggressiveness level is on the high side. The survey shows that quite a number of students are aggressive.Secondly, the forgiveness level of senior high school students'differs at the variable of demography. It shows that, schoolboys'general forgiveness level is higher than schoolgirls', and their emotional forgiveness for others is quite different from schoolgirls'. The general forgiveness level of students who are the only child of their family is a little higher than that of the students who have brothers and sisters. Besides, remarkable differences exist among the latter on emotional forgiveness. What's more, students in different ranks of senior high schools share the same forgiveness level. The same result can be found between students majored in liberal arts and science majors, too. Generally speaking, a tiny difference exists on the forgiveness level between urban senior high school students and rural students, while a remarkable one exists between them on the emotional forgiveness. Overall, the forgiveness level of students in the first grade is higher than that of the students in the other grades. However, this discrepancy exists only on the behavior forgiveness, and it is notable.Thirdly, the three dimensionalities of senior high school students'forgiveness have remarkable negative correlation with their aggressiveness behavior. Forthly, among all dimensionalities of the forgiveness, behavior forgiveness for others and self forgiveness can forecast one's aggressiveness behavior. The equation is: the aggressiveness behavior= -0.291×behavior forgiveness -0.209×self forgiveness.
