A Research On The Relationship Among High School Students’ Forgiveness,gratitude And Subjective Well-being

The emergence of Positive Psychology has advocated the promotion of empirical work that endorses human strengths. Within the context of this paradigm, psychological wellness can be conceptualized as a product of nourishing positive and durable personal strengths, more than the reduction of psychological symptoms.Instead of studying depression, anxiety, maladjustment and other debilitating psychological conditions, psychologists within this framework have realized the beneficial impacts of focusing on well-being outcomes.Therefore,with the development of positive psychology and research on subjective well being constantly deepening,as an important force of personality to promote subjective well-being,gratitude and forgiveness have been widely concerned. In this context,the researcher takes the senior high school students as the research participants, and carries on the research. Three hundred six students of two senior high schools in Songyuan selected as subjects. Using the questionnaire survey method,the relationships among forgiveness, gratitude and subjective well being are discussed. The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1) Between key senior high school and ordinary senior high school,there are significant differences in the forgive oneself dimension of senior high school students. The ordinary senior high school students revenge for others is significantly higher than key senior high school;There are significant differences of gratitude tendency between key senior high school and ordinary senior high school students. The gratitude tendency of the students in the key senior high school is significantly higher than those in ordinary senior high school. As to SWB, We found that with different characteristics schools,the life satisfaction dimension of subjective well-being is a significant difference.students in ordinary senior high school experience more life satisfaction and key senior high school students have a lower level of positive affect,; The study showed that the life satisfaction and subjective well-beings scores that the non only children experience is significantly higher than the only child.(2) Forgiveness is significantly associated with subjective well-being,specific performance as:The dimensions of forgiveness and self forgiveness are positively correlated with life satisfaction and subjective well-being,significant negatively correlated with negative emotion. Revenge others and punish oneself significantly positive correlation with negative emotion.To a certain extent, the tendency of forgiveness can predict subjective well-being.(3) Gratitude tendency of senior high school students have a significant positive correlation with positive emotion, life satisfaction and subjective well-being,To some extent, gratitude can predict subjective well-being.(4) Gratitude is significantly related to forgiveness,specifically expressed as: The dimensions of revenge others has a significantly negative correlation with gratitude,and the dimensions of forgiveness others and punish oneself have a significant positive correlation with gratitude.To a certain extent, the tendency of forgiveness can predict gratitude.(5) The mediating effect of gratitude in three dimensions of forgiveness tendency to subjective well being is proportional to the total effect respectively: 50.92%、58.40%、46.95%.Based on the result above,the research comes to an inclusion:Forgiveness disposition and gratitude of high school students respectively affect subjective well-being. Moreover gratitude plays a mediator role between forgiveness and subjective well-being partly. Therefore,we need more means to promote students’ forgiveness and gratitude disposition, so that adolescents’ subjective well-being can be advanced.
