Exposing The Influence When Traditional Sculpture Color Is Applied In Creation Of Contemporary Painted Sculpture

The color applying in traditional sculpture has never been suspended since its emergence. Observing the Chinese tradition sculpture's art characteristic, color is the unneglectable aspect. The conventional color gained its unique language property and expression mode through integrating with sculpture figures. Along with the development and incessant deepening of traditional sculpture, the conventional color becomes precious resources. In modem times, the development of traditional sculpture came to a sharp listlessness for producing fault; the conventional color has been kept in folk craft sculptures, with little relationship with the contemporary sculpture. Since the beginning of eighties last century, the liberation of art thoughts has brought diversification to contemporary sculpture and rational reflection on west modern art ideal, which provoked the discussion of sculpture localization. Against this background, the phenomenon of applying traditional sculpture color to express modern theme emerged in the area of Chinese contemporary sculpture.This thesis focuses on the two aspects of this phenomenon, researching into the relationship of traditional sculpture color being applied in creative practice of contemporary sculpture in the present age. On one hand, it briefly analyzes the possibility of reference through traditional sculpture color's language property and expression mode and discourses the integrating tendency of this two aspects connecting with the background that this phenomenon arose; on the other hand, it analyzes the method that contemporary sculpture refers the traditional sculpture color and comparatively discourses the mutual influence that this phenomenon brings to traditional color sculpture and creation of contemporary sculpture. And furthermore, through the successful borrowing examples, it discusses the problem that the contemporary painted sculpture how to reflect the national distinctive character and inherit and upgrade the traditional sculpture color.
