The arrival of Buddhism brought a series of culture and art from outlands which gradually took root in the Middle Earth. Throughout history, the development of Buddhism accomplished its sinicization through three steps, including its own spiritualization in Han Dynasty, the cultivation of metaphysics of Lao-Zhuang in Wei and Jin Dynasties as well as the Confucianism in Song and Yuan Dynasties. No doubt the sinicization of Buddhism had a tremendous impact on the Buddhist art in China, which is embodied in the transition of painting aesthetic standards. It started from the Greek-style statues art affected by the aesthetics of ancient Greece, to the "Zhang Jiaxiang" style created by Zhang Sengyao on the basis of western painting style in Wei and Jin Dynasties, and then to the Buddha painting with Chinese characteristics in the gorgeous age of Tang Dynasty with the translation and promotion of masterpieces of Buddhism. And the Confucianism after Song and Yuan Dynasties did promote the secularization of Buddha painting which was increasingly accepted by the civilian later. Nowadays, under the unification of Chinese nation, the influence of Buddhism is also expanding with the increasing development of science and technology. In the sense of painting, it is truly presented with the emergence of paintings involving Buddhism or Buddhist thoughts, which are the outcome of the integration of the original Buddha painting and the insulated idea of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. The new type of Buddha painting involved a very wide range with a significant Chinese features. It can be concluded that today the paintings on Buddhism is in bloom contending for attention.
