According to the statics, about 1000 neologisms appear in China each year, the speed of growth is amazing. No matter where we go, books, newspaper and magazines, TV and movies, broadcast and the Internet present up-to-date neologisms. It is acknowledged that neologisms have become part of our life. Based on the fact, translation study and research on Chinese neologism are worth of strenuous efforts.What is more, as the carrier of culture, the importance of language development is highlighted. On one hand, the increase of neologisms has enriched our language and culture, on the other hand, the increase of neologisms also has the effect with global communication with other countries. Not only globally communication requires translator to respect and focus on different cultures, but also the position of language and culture is highly valued. Furthermore, with ever intimate communication with foreign countries, east and west cultures become blended with each other, and the significance of language begins to appear. To be specific, since neologisms are the most novel and fresh part in language, the importance is self-evident. Taken as the epitome of the contemporary China, neologisms give a picture of China today. As the wind wane of the time, Chinese neologism translation is in urgent need of comprehensive study and research in translation. In order to minimize cultural difference between cultures, translation begins to play an important role. Chinese neologism translation is not only a channel to publicize China today, but also a need of many Chinese English learners. Therefore, study and research in translation must be strongly emphasized.For the past three decades, pioneering work has been done in the freshly new field by some scholars, and some personal experience or methods on this translation have been summarized. However, Chinese neologism translation is only at an initial stage for some reason. Cultural factors in Chinese neologism are in lack of sufficient attention. Overall systematical analysis with cultural consideration is in need. Thus, based on theoretical guidance, complete and systematic research with regard to Chinese neologism translation is required.With all of the information above, the author conducts a research into Chinese neologism. Different from linguistic or meaning-oriented point, this thesis conducts translation study from cultural context, citing scores of examples of new words and expressions over the last three decades in China. Furthermore, Bassnet's cultural view translation lays the theoretical foundation of the whole thesis.This thesis probes into Chinese neologism translation from three main aspects, namely, review, summary and innovation.Literature review, including former research in periodicals and books, aims to avoid mistranslation and provide better solution in translation.Throughout the painstaking work, summery on Chinese neologism and the translation is expounded into five divisions, mutual relationship of translation, culture and Chinese neologism, definition of neologism, characteristics of Chinese neologism, and genesis of Chinese neologism as well as barriers of Chinese neologism translation.In order to provide a systematic analysis and theoretical guidance for the whole thesis, innovation is achieved by Chinese neologism translation under the guidance of cultural view translation. In cultural context, with the theoretical guiding significance of the theory, translation principles and translation strategies are presented with vivid examples.
