Subjective well-being is an individual evaluation of the overall quality of people's life based on his own criteria and is also an important psychological factor reflecting the quality of life. Domestic and foreign researchers have carried out a lot of research on the relationship between subjective well-being and a variety of internal and external variables. These studies pay more attention to the relationship between single factor and subjective well-being, but lack of integral studies of related internal and external factors. In this study,359 college students from five universities in Hunan are taken as the researching subjects with the General Well-being Schedule (GWB), Big Five Personality Inventory (NEO-PI-R), and Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) to discuss the relationship between personality, social support and subjective well-being, and emphasis on the intermediary effects of social support between the personality and subjective well-being. The results indicate:1. There is significant difference on the students'subjective well-being from different types of schools and different families at different economic level, that is, the subjective well-being of the students from the good universities and vocational colleges is significantly higher than that of the students from the average colleges; the subjective well-being of the students from poor families is significantly lower than that of the students from good and average economic level families. There is no significant difference on the students'subjective well-being in other demographic variables.2. Each dimension of personality is significantly correlated with the subjective well-being of the students. Neuroticism, extraversion and conscientiousness can effectively predict subjective well-being, among which neuroticism works a more significant negative influence on subjective well-being, and extraversion and conscientiousness work a more significant positive influence on subjective well-being. Openness to experience and agreeableness have no effect on subjective well-being.3. Each dimension of social support is significantly correlated with the subjective well-being of the students. Family support has a positive predictive effect on subjective well-being; friends support and other support have no effect on subjective well-being.4. The factor of family support performs an intermediary function between extraversion and subjective well-being, and also between conscientiousness and subjective well-being. It performs no intermediary function between subjective well-being and other factors of personality.
