To translate Chinese tourist materials into English is, in fact, a communication between cultures. Because of the tourist materials' characters themselves and the differences between the Chinese culture and the Western culture, different translating methods are used in different tourist materials in the course of translating. There are two basic principles:first, stressing local cultural character; second, taking the reader as the center, with the result of good understandability to the reader. We have to adopt proper translation methods if we want to make the two languages integrated perfectly, such as literal translation, transliteration, free translation and so on.
