The Archaeological Achievements And The Preliminary Understanding Of Zi'an Mountain City

Zi'an Mountain city lies in the northern suburb of Tonghua city in Jilin Province, about 4 kilometers from the city center. It is one relatively intact city site among the city sites found in Koguryo period. The study on it started from the 80s of the 20th century, based on the investigation and survey, but the study mainly focus on brief description and summarize, and paid little attention to the type, the age , the property and the station of the city site. Till the beginning of the 11th century, with the small scale of test excavation of the Archaeology and Cultural Relics Research Institute of Jilin Province and the Cultural Relics Management Office of Tonghua city, then the research people began to notice the city site. In 2006, the Mountain city was list as"Koguryo Sites Protection Program in Jilin Province"project, after that the large scale field work began unfolding,and the fact that use age was the Koguryo period were confirmed firstly.Based on the previous work, the author has summarized the field work about it from 2007 to 2009, and described the preliminary understanding of it from six parts.Part I: The author introduced the location of Zi'an Mountain City, and described the field works and the research on the city site.Part II: Based on the investigations and the field work, the author introduced the shape, the building mode and the function of Zi'an Mountain City.Part III: Based on the investigations and the field work, the author described the shape, the function and the layout of the establishment inside of the city.Part IV: Based on the excavated cultural relics inside of the Mountain City, the author analyzed the pottery and the Iron arrowhead.Part V: Based on the previous analysis, the author compared the building mode and the character of the cultural relics of Zi'an Mountain City to Koguryo Mountain City around, and discussed the building age and the abandon age of Zi'an Mountain City.Part VI: Based on the research of Zi'an Mountain City, the author discussed the character and the station of it ,and analyzed the reason of the building, rebuilding and abandon of it.Part VII: The author summarized the previous analysis and the meaning of the excavation and research of Zi'an Mountain City.
