The fish-pattern is loved by people all the time. In Ming Dynasty, it has appeared many fish patterns which played an important role in both Chinese culture and Art history. On the basis of previous studies, the decorative fish of Ming Dynasty such as the breakthrough points to collect pictures and the literature to study fish-pattern on ceramics, combining with the background of fish, and topology. I will distinguish the dynasty and the characteristic from the movement, composition and painting style to analyse the laws of development, and It will be a complementary method in the area of porcelain appraisal.Finally,I will analyse reasons about the social background, other cultures and so on. I have found the fish-pattern becomes more and more realism in the period of Ming Dynasty. Its composition has been much richer. The form becomes more diversified, and fish-pattern appears in more kinds of ceramic decorating. At last the fish-pattern gets the peak in mid-late Ming Dynasty. After studying the formation reasons of the fish-pattern, I have found that the spirit has a relation with a simple fish-pattern in early Ming Dynasty.Water-dividing patterns are influenced by the literary painting and the process of the light tracing are impacted by the wood block. In addition, there are many reasons influencing the formation of this style such as the mud, the kind of painting brush, and low price of the folk ceramic.
