| With the development of society economy, the higher vocational education should change the concept of exam-oriented education, set up actively the english teaching goals of cultivating students'innovation abilities and comprehensive qualities, and pay more attention to English teaching reform of higher vocational schools. On the other hand, the traditional English teaching mode of the higher vocational institute has obvious disadvantages. The problems of stressing on examination-oriented education, despising quality-oriented education, cramming method of teaching, and the single examination methods were unable to cater to the need of the phatic characteristic and applicability of higher vocational English. The english teaching reform of higher vocational colleges must change old education concepts, reconstruct modern knowledge views, emphasize the quality training, establish new student-centered teaching models.Although the economic development of Jilin was rapid in recent years, the employment situation of graduates from higher vocational schools was terrible. One factor of this phenomenon was the blindness of the reform in higher vocational colleges, such as teaching curriculums, teaching contents, teaching methods, and so on. Therefore, the reform of english teaching mode in higher vocational colleges of Jilin is urgently needed. The important principle of the success reform is following constructivism guidance, strengthening the scene simulations, professional experience and the construction of professional knowledge structure of higher vocational colleges.The paper based on clear purpose and significance of the research. Firstly, the outline of constructivism theory identifies its main viewpoints, features of teaching mode and typical teaching models of constructivism theory, which lay the theoretical foundation of the research. Secondly, though reading widely, comparing carefully, and analyzing deeply the documentation at home and abroad about the application and development of constructivism, the author has so much knowledge about it and summarizes to find the new point of vocational english teaching reform in our country. On that basis, doing on-site inspection though the questionnaire-method to know the current situation and features of high vocational english teaching reform in Jilin. The paper analyzes five problems which are made in the process of english teaching reform by making use of figures, charts and facts. Teaching concepts of the higher vocational english are fuzziness and exam-oriented oriented. The students are in the teaching mode of transmission. The drab teaching contents are not in favor for establishing teaching situations. Utilitarian motivations are against the atmosphere building of cooperative learning. The single evaluation approach goes against meaning construction of english learning. Finally, according to the disadvantages of the english teaching in Jilin, it proposed the concrete maneuverable reform countermeasures and the suggestions in background of constructivism, such as improving the teaching level, changing teaching methods, strengthening the pertinence and practicability of teaching contents, constructing reasonable learning meanings, cultivating students' interests and applied principles of the poly-layered evaluation model.According to characteristics of the research content, this paper adopts the following analysis methods:(1) Documentation researching methodology. The author collected widely related information from the oversea and domestic journals, books, and domestic and foreign report about higher vocational English teaching reform. (2) Comparative research. The paper summarized the reasons and experience by the horizontal analysis of different situations and reasons of constructivism reform at home and abroad, and the longitudinal comparison of levels and consequences of constructivism reform in history. (3) Questionnaire method. The author investigated the problems, collected the reliable first-hand information as much as possible, and did scientific analysis according to current situations. (4) Statistics makes this paper clear and concise. |
