The Study On The Radical Of Ren In Shuowenjiezi And The Use In Xunzi

The radical of"ren"Based on ShuoWenJieZi contains many characters,which having more characters than other radicals. The Scholars do less research on the radical of"ren",and the research for the radical of"ren"is not focused.Based on ShuoWen ,we try to analyse the shape of the radical of"ren"and the original meaning of the character,and then we can understand the situation of shape and the meaning in ShuoWen.Then we make a comparison to the XunZi.By researching the word meaning from each character in the context of Xunzi,and then make a comparison to the Shuowen characters of"ren".Finally ,we can know the meaning's difference between the character dictionary and the literature .Thus,we can control the right meaning of the radical of"ren"in ShuoWen.This paper has three parts:The preface:Primarily ,make an Introduction of purpose and significance of the radical of"ren"in ShuoWen.Do a summary of previous studies.Chapter two:We analyse the shape of ShuoWen and the meaning of the character.Use the "Liu-shu" Theory and make the shape structure analysis and get to know the original meaning for each character.Through the analysis ,we can get the conclusion :In common,there are 1 pictograph character ,16 associative character ,246 phonetic character .In the phonetic character,there are 86 character for phonetic element ,which are having meaning.160 character's phonetic element don not represent significance.According to the original meaning ,there are 246 character having right meaning ,which nearly account for 93.5 %.And there are17 character having wrong meaning ,which nearly account for 6.5%.Then,classify the characters by the original meaning.Chapter three:Take the text of Xunzi for example,discuss the usage of the radical of"ren" in literature.First we can list the meaning of"ren"radical character in XunZi. Make a comparison to the Xunzi and Shuowen 's characters meaning in Shuowen by the radical of "ren".By the number of the data,we can get to know how the radical of "ren" in Shuowen used in Xunzi .Find out the characters which are not including in Shuowen,and discuss the reason.
