As Chinese learning becoming more and more popular all over the world, besides coming to China, more and more people begin to learn Chinese in their own country. But their current Chinese study situation especially extracurricular study is complicated, disordered and totally neglected. Because of this, this thesis firstly expounded the importance of communicative competence from second language learning angle, affirmed the merits of Chinese class teaching and pointed out its shortcomings, and then further put forward the importance, urgency and feasibility of effective extracurricular Chinese learning in the nontarget language context. On this basis and taking the form of investigation and interview, the author did an extracurricular Chinese learning research on the students from Chinese department of Khon Kaen University in Thailand, and also analyzed its merits and shortcomings. At last, based on the inspiration the author got from practical teaching experience, and also referred to English extracurricular valid study methods in China, the author gave some detail and feasible advice to the nontarget language context Chinese learners. These advice is for promoting extracurricular Chinese learning of Khon Kaen University and even the whole Thailand and other nontarget language context country. Hopefully, these advice can make Chinese international veritably, and promote Chinese language popularized and Chinese culture widely spreaded.
