Even though the overall trend of aesthetic among painters in Yuan dynasty is "fleeing",Ni Zan is the only one whose art can represent the highest level of "fleeing" style of Yuan painting.The "fleeing" style pursued by Ni Zan has reached the spiritual level and transformed into a life attitude and ideology. The distinctiveness of Ni Zan's landscape painting lies in that he externalized the life attitude and spiritual state of "fleeing" in his painting, represented by his typical painting pattern of water with both banks.The thesis consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction, which presents the research background, significance, brief review and comments of the previous researches. The researching methodology and researching approach is included too.The second part elaborates the presence of "fleeing" style in Ni Zan's painting pattern. The definition of "fleeing style" is introduced first in this part. And then the influence of Yuan dynasty's aesthetic trend on Ni Zan's appreciation and creation of paintings is studied, following which the specific presence of "fleeing" in Ni Zan's painting is explored.In the third part, the development and evolution of Ni Zan's landscape painting pattern is analyzed. The origin of his typical painting pattern of water with both banks is studied. The transformation and bettering of the origin, Ni Zan's own development of the style is researched to present clearly the formation of Ni Zan's landscape painting pattern.As the main body of the thesis, the fourth part focuses on the construct of "fleeing style" state in Ni Zan's landscape painting pattern. Ni Zan integrates the inner invisible "fleeing felling" into his painting creation and externalized it in visible landscape painting. His construct of landscape painting pattern is influenced both by heteronomy and autonomy. His unique life experience and distinctive character contributes a lot to the formation of his own style's art, which is thus distinctive as well. Ni Zan has integrated art into life, and life into art. In summary, the construct of "fleeing style" state in Ni Zan's landscape panting pattern is elaborated, which emphasizes the construct of his life attitude and spiritual state in the painting pattern. Conversely, the painting pattern is the materialization of Ni Zan's spirit.In researching methodology, the thesis combines the heteronomy and autonomy in Ni Zan's painting and the construct of his landscape painting pattern is explored. The study draws insight from Western Study of Image, Chinese ancient painting literature and aesthetic trend. Based on the research, the rich social cultural significance implied in the painting image of Ni Zan's landscape painting pattern is decoded.
