Studies On Modern Chinese Disyllable Qualitative Adjectives On The Adverbial Dimension

The scope of the study in this paper is limited in "Chinese Adjective Usage Dictionary" (2003).We select the disyllable qualitative adjectives of the dictionary one by one.And the selected words are divided into disyllable adverbial qualitative adjectives(389 cases) and disyllable non-adverbial qualitative adjectives(491 cases) according to the definitions and the marks of the syntactic functions in the dictionary. We have not confined to the dictionary comments, while searching and consulting the National Language Committee corpus and Beijing University corpus for the corpora examples .We consulte the adverbial functions according to the dynamic study. The paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter I,"the introduction ".It explains the origin of the topic, and clearly defines "dimension","qualitative adjectives","adverbial"and the value of our study. "Dimension" represents a kind of the "extension" and the "stretching" of the research perspective.It indicates that this paper is not only concerned about the "adverbial" function but also extends to other non-adverbial functions which may be relevant ,for examples the"attribute",the"predicate",and the"complement". Also it is not only concerned about the syntax level but also concerned about the semantic level which is relevant.We almost select the same research perspective and investigate the disyllable adverbial qualitative adjectives and disyllable non-adverbial qualitative adjectives from the aspects of syntactic and semantic levels.The second and the third chapters are respective analysises , the fourth chapter is contrastive analysis.Chapter II, "the webblogs of the disyllable adverbial qualitative adjectives". We make a rigorous qualitative and quantitative statistical description on the 389 cases. On one hand, we care for the attribute, the predicate, the complement and other syntactic features to study the association with the adverbial function ,on the other hand, we analyze the semantic features of the disyllable adverbial qualitative adjectives.At last we have a comprehensive comparison which is about the syntactic features, semantic features and the reasons for the adverbial function of the disyllable adverbial qualitative adjectives. Chapterâ…¢, "the webblogs of the disyllable non-adverbial qualitative adjectives". We make a rigorous qualitative and quantitative statistical description on the 491 cases. On one hand, we care for the attribute, the predicate, the complement and other syntactic features,on the other hand, we analyze the semantic features of the adjectives.At last we have a comprehensive comparison which is about why the disyllable non-adverbial qualitative adjectives haven't the adverbial function. We list the cases whose functions are different from the labeled adverbial functions in the "Chinese Adjective Usage Dictionary" (2003) in the context.Chapter IV, "the comparative analysis of the disyllable qualitative adjectives on the adverbial dimension".It is actually a summary of chapter II and chapter III. We make a dynamic comparison according to the prototype theory and the continuum theory,in order to know the key semantic features which confine the adverbial function of the disyllable qualitative adjectives.Ultimately we establish a comprehensive adverbial function's continuum of the disyllable qualitative adjectives in order to finish the dynamic comb and investigation for the disyllable qualitative adjectives on the adverbial dimension. ?...
