The annotation books, which reflect the language features in the annotators'stage, are considered as the precious materials for studying the then language features. They primarily explain the language to reduce the reading barriers and difficulties and foster the heritance of the ancient books and the spread of the cultural ideologies. Studying the annotation books is quite helpful for the research on the Chinese language development.This paper focuses on the Yangliang's annotation on Xunzi and studies the annotation on the nouns. By analyzing the nouns that explain others and the nouns that are explained from Yang's annotation, this paper expounds the feature of Yang's annotation. Through contrastive comparisons, this paper studies the feature of Yang's annotation on nouns and makes primary research on the ways of annotating the nouns.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction of the background of this study. It briefs on the significance of annotation books, the value of Yang's annotation, and the introduction of annotation on nouns. The second chapter focuses on the Yang's annotation on the proper noun. It studies the ways of annotating such proper nouns as names of people and places. The third chapter focuses on the Yang's annotation on the common noun. From the perspective of following previous annotation ways and making changes on previous ways, this chapter deeply analyzes Yang's annotation features. In terms of following previous annotation ways, Yang's annotation ways include stating the annotation sources and not stating the sources, etc. In terms of making changes on previous ways, Yang's annotation ways mainly include adding words, reducing words, and additional explanation. The fourth chapter focuses on Yang's annotation on the abstract nouns. The fifth chapter summarizes the feature of Yang's annotation on the noun and the feature of annotation in Yang's stage.
