A Preliminary Research On The Status Quo Of Migrant Farm Workers' Psychological Fusion And Its Influential Factors In China's Urbanization

Migrant farm workers'psychological fusion is a comprehensive mental state of migrant farm workers in city engagement .People with high-level of psychological fusion are psychological adjusted ,and feel happy .Also they have a great sense of belonging to the city and identified themselves as urban population.A questionnaire survey assisted by field research and in-depth individual interviews is carried out in order to discuss two questions as below:1 The status Quo of migrant farm workers'psychological fusion using subjective well-being (SWB) ,identity and sense of belonging as measurable indicators .2 The influence factors of migrant farm worker's psychology fusion, especially for the impact and mechanism of social support, acculturation strategy and locus of psychological control in psychological fusion.Conclusions drawn from this research as below:1 The level of migrant farm workers'psychological fusion is low. The SWB score is below the moderate level, Both positive and negative affect is not too much.The sense of belonging is of moderate level. The citizen identity is below the moderate level with farmer identity above it. And the citizen identity level is significantly lower than farmer identity.2 The demographic factors have great effect on migrant farm worker's psychological fusion. Male migrant farm workers are more fused than female ones. And married ones are more fused than unmarried ones. People who are well educated are more fused. Young people between 18 and 25 years old have the lowest psychological fusion scores. Migrant farm workers'psychological fusion is positively predicted by the years living the city and their income.3 Social support, acculturation strategy and locus of psychological control have great effect on migrant farm worker's psychological fusion. The psychological fusion is positively predicted by the level of social support. People accepted the urban culture is more psychological fused. People with internal-locus of control are well fused. And people who adopt integration or assimilation acculturation strategy have higher level of psychological fusion than people who adopt separation or marginalization strategy.4 A path analysis on social support, acculturation strategy, locus of psychological control, years living in the city, income and psychological fusion is carried out to test the moderate model .The result shows that more social support and strong urban identification predict better psychological fusion ,but strong country identification predict worse psychological fusion. Years living in the city, income and locus of psychological control are not only have directly effect on migrant farm worker's psychological fusion, but also effect psychological fusion through social support and acculturation strategy indirectly.On account of this,migrant farm workers should enhance their confidence on psychological fusion on their own initiative, promote urban identification, construct strong interpersonal networks to help themselves to complete psychological fusion earlier. The government organization should serve for migrant farm workers more effectively, and pay more attention to female ones and marriageable ones.
