In recent years,cognitive flexibility has been the hot issue of the cognitive psychology. Cognitive flexibility refers to a person's (a)awareness that in any given situation there are options and alternatives available,(b)willingness to be flexibility and adapt to the situation,and(c)self-efficacy in being flexibility.This paper aimed to discuss the relationship between the cognitive flexibility and the school adaption of the freshmen. First of all, the Cognitive Flexibility Scale(CFS) was translated into Chinese and then revised according to the result of 2 pretests; Secondly, the revised Cognitive Flexibility Scale and Chinese College Student Adjustment Scale were administered to 597 collogue students from one university; The Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were performed on the CFS in the sample. The general characteristics of cognitive flexibility possessed by colleague student in China, the correlationship between cognitive flexibility and school adaption and the regression analysis were investigated. According to the theory, the results are fully discussed.The main conclusions of this study were as follows:(1)The revised Cognitive Flexibility Scale include 13 items, three dimensions, and has good reliability and validity, which can be used for future studies concerning cognitive flexibility for Chinese collogue students.(2)Significant differences were found between genders on the dimension of flexible choosing, no significant differences on cognitive flexibility, flexible willingness and flexible efficacy; Significant differences were found between majors on the dimension of flexible efficacy, no significant differences on cognitive flexibility, flexible willingness and flexible choosing; Significant differences were found on cognitive flexibility and flexible choosing between the one-child children and the only-child children, no significant differences on flexible willingness and flexible efficacy; No significant differences were found between hometown and the order in family on cognitive flexibility and the three dimensions.(3)The collogue students adapted well, no significant differences were found between genders except on study adaption and emotional adaption.(4)The significantly positively relation was found between the three dimensions of cognitive flexibility and the seven dimensions of school adaption.(5)According to the result of the regression analysis, cognitive flexibility can predict school adaption well.
