For a long time, the studies of Chinese affix and those relevant haven'tcaught much of linguists'attention. Most linguists think the affix in modernChinese language is only the appendage of Chinese word-formation. Thoughthey think the definition of Chinese affix is roughly the same, they layparticular emphasis on it. Due to the fact that every linguist shows greatdifference on the judgment of specific Chinese affix, we must deepen theknoWledge about the Chinese affix While linguists have noticed thephenomenon that so many new affixes have appeared in new words in modernChinese language. How to observe this phenomenon? Are all these new thereal Chinese affixes? Do they have the quality of Chinese affix? These stillremain questions. For this reason, the author has tried to broaden theknowledge about the Chinese affix, analysing and describing the newquasiaffix from different aspects, as a result of which we may learn about thequality of Chinese language, the development of Chinese vocabulary andchange of Chinese word-formation as well. This is supposed to provide thesource material for culture studies in certain periods. Starting with generallinguistics and other relevant linguistics theories, the author studies in a degreethe modern Chinese affix and new quasiaffix which is followed by an exactdescription. Again, for a profound study of the Chinese affix, the authoremploys general linguistics with comparing the Chinese affix with those ofother languages and with consideration of present situation of Chineselanguage which suggests a standard for defining new quasiaffixes. Thus theauthor has done some quantified and qualified studies on new quasiaffix.Besides grammatical study, some research in view of culture has also beenachieved. Last but not least the author predicts the going on of the newquasiaffix in modern Chinese language. All the studies tend to bring out somesuggestions for thorough learning about Chinese word-formation bothsynchronizely and diachronicaly.
