Out Of Chaos——Zhou Zuoren's Prosaic Theory And Its Contribution To Chinese Modern Prose Development

The times showing greatest stylistic consciousness lies in the period of the modern development of Chinese prose, Zhou Zuoren is one of those who have made remarkable contribution at this stage. On the basis of consciousness for human being and for text, this thesis sorts Zhou抯 prosaic theory from four aspects:the independence of style, the accuracy of classification, the standardization of ontogenesis and the exploration of resources, aiming at projecting Zhou抯 unique achievements that contribute to the establishment and formation of Chinese modem prose concept.The first part identifies Zhou as the starter of Chinese modem prose, analyzes his theoretical cognizance that considering prose as an independent style. His consciousness of broad sense prose and narrow sense prose helps to bring about the conversion of the prosaic theory from Chaos to clarity. Part two analyzes Zhou抯 classification to the types of modem prose, and his illustration to the contents, languages, observing modes and recording modes, emphasizing his contribution for the predication of Chinese modern prose style. Part three dwells on Zhou抯 Chinese modern theory抯 core parts, i.e. the inner stipulation and aesthetic tract, affirms that he plays an important role in the standardization of ontogenesis and the construction of aesthetic system. The last part sorts Zhou抯 opinion on the source and course of Chinese modern prose, this view paint, localizing the westem individualism and humanism, is one of the marks indicating 憕q maturity of Chinese modem prosaic theory.
