The Theory Of Three-dimension And Its Usage In Chinese Grammatical Studies

By absorbing the essence from many foreign grammatical theories and integrating them with the appliance of Chinese, the grammarians of China formulated the Three-Dimension Theory for grammatical studies in the early period of 1980's, which possesses great vitality and strong explicativeness. Moreover, it's also significant to make the theory further deepgoing and perfect in order to direct Chinese grammatical studies, external Chinese teaching and even the machine treatment of natural language. Beginning with probing into the origin of the theory, this paper analyses and sums up its forming process, concrete meaning, study content and fundamental thinking. At the same time, this paper also ponds over the relations between the three dimensions, the theoretical value, the existing problems and future study direction of the theory.
