The Studies On Relics' Protection In The Construction Of Chinese Small Town

The protection of the relic and historic environment is an old theme with some new questions. There are lots of small towns in China, and its protection of the relic is an important and fundamental part in the protective system of Chinese relics. In the course of Chinese urbanization, it is veiy important to protect the relic and historic environment in small towns. First, the protective process and realization of the relic were summarized, the meaning of the relic was explained, and the distribution and value of the relic were analyzed. In the Chinese small town, the values of the relic are the synthesis of historic and cultural value, artistic value, emotional value, useful value and economic value, and are the factor of Chinese small towns?characteristic. Second, the concept of Chinese small town and the meaning of protection were defined, the tendency of development and the protective necessity of the relic were analyzed in modem construction of Chinese small towns. Based on the protective status of the relic, the types of traditional Chinese small town and the existent questions on relics?protection were described. Thus, the third part put forward the protective ideas in the construction of Chinese small towns, including sustainable development idea, organic renew idea, historic environment idea, artistic spatial network idea and public participating idea. We should follow above ideas. Fourth, according to the traits of small towns and combined some protective examples in small towns, the protective contents and methods were developed from four aspects which are individual relics historic district, whole small town and popular culture. Finally, combining the research and application, the protective contents wett expounded in different stages of small town planning and designing.
