Study Of Interrogative Sentences In "the Sutra Of Hui Neng

Regarded as the first masterpiece of china's Zen Buddhist-Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng. Is a not of lecture by HuiNeng which was made at the Buddhist temple in Shaozhou .The common language in the lecture was widely used to meet the common people's need. That is why the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng reflecting the general features of common language in middle Tang Dynasty was on the basis of truth as well as valuable for studying the development of Chinese languages from Remote Ages to Middle Ages .The interrogative sentences have been widely used in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng ?Therefore,this thesis mainly focuses on the style of interrogative sentences on the foundation of static observation and necessary analysis. It offers the interrogative sentences and overall and vertical dynamic state to search for the developing orbit and the evolving principle of interrogative sentences.The interrogative sentences in the Study of the Sutra of HuiNeng mainly are the Specific sentences,then the other types. The feature of every interrogative sentence imply interrogative pronoun or mood particle,there are sixty interrogative sentences all together in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng Firstly,the thesis divides the interrogative sentence into three types:Specific. Complex,Rhetorical question. Among which the frequency of the former appeared much more than the others,totally fifty-one times. According to the different use of the question words,the Specific interrogative sentences in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng can be categorized for three types as "a shui'Y'he","ji")oand the "he" can be used as single .complex and fix phrase(he yi,he yi gu,he deng,ru he,yi he) .then,the thesis analyses all kinds of interrogative sentence in terms of grammar function. Expression,frequency of use and developing process .in order to discover some rules of the common language in the period of Middle Tang Dynasty.There is only one rhetorical question but eight complex interrogative sentences in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng It can be grouped as VPNeg and VPNegVP (VP:verb and adjacent. Neg:negative) ,The thesis gives the two groups a particular analysis and attempts to discover the essential features of rhetorical question of that time to reference the study on Chinese language's history.Secondly,the thesis gives the interrogative sentence grammar function and usage in the four editions of the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng (dunhuang,huixing,qisong,-ongbao) an comparison in terms of question words,moods particle and differences of sentence patterns.All of these showed the general idea of interrogative sentences in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng by the way of directly perceived through senses.Thirdly,the thesis compares the specific interrogative sentences with "he" in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng (edition of dunhuang) with those in another Buddhist sutra in order to show the developing orbit and features of interrogative sentences' various and easy to combine of" he ".As a conclusion,all the features of structure and grammar function of interrogative sentences in the Study on the Sutra of HuiNeng reflect the interrogative sentence's feature of the common language during Middle Tang Dynasty. It also devotes a lot to study interrogative sentences of ancient Chinese language.
