The Yes-no interrogative sentence is one of the fundamental types of interrogative sentence. It is formed by the basic structure of the declarative sentence with question intonation, sometimes may with specific question expression words and so on. This thesis emphasizes inspecting the developmental and evolutionary condition of the Yes-no interrogative sentence from the diachronic aspect. Tracing back from the Qin Han Dynasty to the Ming Qing Dynasty, this thesis expounds the developmental clue and evolutionary characteristics of the Yes-no interrogative sentence, highlight its historical outline. Being based on the objective description, summing up the usage and revealing the characteristic are the basic research thoughts which this thesis follows. What must be pointed out is that the Yes-no interrogative sentence has both the remarkable historical stability, and the clear periodical evolution.This thesis first reviews and summarizes the research results on the Yes-no interrogative sentence of the academic field,then launches the systematical research from four aspects. First of all, inspects the basic structure and function of the Yes-no interrogative sentence, giving explanations to pragmatic classification,interrogative focus,interrogative territory,pre-installation,appropriation and answer of the Yes-no interrogative sentence . Secondly, describes the historic courses of Yes-no interrogative sentences with question expression words or expression adverbs or non-marks separately to outline the evolutionary clue of the general Yes-no interrogative sentence. Thirdly, makes rather comprehensive analysis and contrast to the estimating Yes-no interrogative sentence, withdraw its characteristics in different historical stages. Fourth, inspects and proves the formation and evolutionary process of ask-in-reply Yes-no interrogative sentence.
