Research On Art Supporters In Tang And Song Dynasties

Taking the art supporters in Tang and Song dynasties (617A. D.?279A. D.) as the research objects, and the interrelation between the prosperity of the grotto and fresco arts and polity, economy, culture and religion in that period as the research clue, the dissertation tries to find out the great effect of the supporters on the formation and development of art works and the great influence of them on the scales, themes, styles of art works. Also the historical contribution of the supporters is affirmed and the new problems we are facing today are put forward.The whole dissertation is divided into five parts:Part One: Introduction. The author makes clear the necessity of the research on the supporters through scrutinizing the cultural status quo and the contribution of the supporters to the historical culture. At the same time the research steps of the whole dissertation are also explained.Part Two: The meanings of 'supporter' are illustrated. According to the process from the early emergence of the supporters to their popularity among the common people in Tang and Song dynasties, the author reveals the close relation between the prosperity of the grotto and fresco arts and the development of Buddhism.Part Three: Putting the supporters with different identity, status and economic condition in the political, economic, cultural and religious context of Tang and Song dynasties, the author analyses the specific fields of thesupporter's spirit activities and the spirit activities of the people in the same periods.Part Four: Through the case study of Tang and Song dynasties the author reveals the concrete and profound influence of the supporter's specific status, personal affairs, family styles, aesthetic interests and donating performances on the creating of art works.Part Five: The author summarizes the supporter's historical status and contribution. Through the research on the current development of the supporters the author also puts forward new problems we are facing today that is culture and art need more supporters.
