| To the music history,the investigation is a boundless process. As we known,in the historiography of Chinese Music,the two books:Outline of Chinese Music History and Draft of Chinese Ancient Music History of Yang yin-liu are two significant literatures,as well as achievements of two different historical periods. For objective and subjective reasons,there are distinctively differences. Therefore,comparison and summary of those two books have far-researching significances.It consists of three parts. Throughout the full text,the thesis,based on the life and learning experiences of Mr Yang yin-lui in those two books,strive to summarized and get respective characteristics and value objectively and distinctively,especially from three gradations -background,frame structure and main contents.Firstly,learning experiences of Mr Yang is analyzed. In this portion,in order to investigate the character of idea and research methods,furtherly its effecfs on those two books,it makes a detailed analysis to Yang's learning experience.Secondly,in backgrounds and frame structure,a comparison of those two books is made. Of the two books,one is teaching material,which was accomplished before the foundation P.R.C.,another is a genuine academic works,which was accomplished under the guiding ideology of Marxism.On the other hand,the two books all adopt annalistic style to analyze the development of Chinese music history,but there are some difference. In one book,the span is separately into three parts -ancient,medieval and modern ancient history,another adopt annalisticstyle in dynastic turns to discuss.Thirdly,in contents,comparison of those two books is made. Here,by eight important points,from historial materials,music idea,sound photographic materials etc.,it displays evident disparities in details.In the end,it comments on the relationship between the works and the author,and make an objective conclusion on comparison of those two books.
