China is one of the four ancient civilized countries in the world. People of all ethnic groups, with hard-working and intelligence, have developed longstanding history and glorious culture, in which ancient books and documents consist of a major part. Research into ancient books and documents can not only inherit unbiasedly the excellence in ancient cultures, but also use history for reference, base upon current situation and contribute to vest exploration of China.Chahetai documents play an important role in research into ancient books of Xinjiang minorities. At present, collection, rearrangements and research of Chahetai documents have achieved much success. However, the research is mainly focused on literature and historic documents are usually neglected. What's more, during the research of Chahetai documents, merely a small portion have been translated into Uyghur. Achievements in research with Chinese language are even fever. Therefore, my main concern in this thesis, based on transliteration and translation, is the age of Genghis Khan, his martial expedition, origin of Mongolia and characteristics of people's name in the biography.Biography of Genghis Khan is a valuable history book for studying Chinese history. It involves a vide range of contents, including the genesis of universe, formation and migration of Mongolian tribe, Genghis Khan's conquer over western regions of China and Central Asia at the beginning of the thirteenth century.Biography of Genghis Khan is composed of six chapters.Chapter one is the synopsis of the book, including the author's intention and writing process, a general introduction and the published edition andspecifications of Biography of Genghis Khan.Chapter two is transliteration and translation of Biography of Genghis Khan, concerning the genesis of universe, formation and activities of ancient Turkic tribe, myth and legend of Uygurs, formation and migration of Mongolian tribe, Genghis Khan's martial expedition and passing away.Chapter three concerns textual research into Genghis Khan's age. We can infer that Genghis Khan's age vas sixty-six from research into different records in Chinese, Mongolian, Persian historical data as well as records in this biographical book.Chapter four focuses on origin of Mongolia. Based on records about the origin of Mongolia in Chinese documents and origin and development of Mongolia, I analyzed thoroughly the origin of Mongolia recorded in this biography and deduced that Mongolian origin could date back to the period of Hun with the record of Mongolwei.Chapter five expounds the reason of Genghis Khan's martial expedition. This chapter is divided into three parts. The first part touches upon the process of Genghis Khan's martial expedition. The second part illustrates the reason of his expedition. The last part discusses its prerequisite and achievements.Chapter six concentrates on the research into people's names in Biography of Genghis Khan. Research into source and composition of people's names infers the amalgamation of Turkic and Mongolian tribes on Mongolian Plateau at that time, moreover, substituting official ranks for people's names is a distinctive characteristic. In brief, this thesis verifies Genghis Khan's age and Mongolian origin, analyzes objectively Genghis Khan's martial expedition from home arid abroad situation, expounds the characteristics of people's names at that time.If there are mistakes peeping through the thesis or even boldly intruding, I look forward to your sincere comments. My warmest gratitude goes to my supervisor, Mr. Chen Shiming, for his generous help, inspiring guidance and meticulous care that constantly enhanced the progress of the thesis.
