A Study On Lu Yun

During the Wei and Chin Dynasties (魏晋 ) Lu Yun ( 陆云 ) was well-known as Lu Ji in Tai Kang Literary Circles (太康文坛) , and was one of the famous literary writers originated from Lu Family ( 陆氏家族) . His main idea was Confucianism Living during the Western Chin Dynasty ( 西晋 ) , he was immersed in Metaphysics(玄学/形而上学 ) to some extent. He inherited the best traditions of the family culture, had thick homeland complex, and honestly served his master. But he could not keep himself away from disasters and finally he was killed innocently. He was good at writing Prose (文) and Fu or Verse Essay(赋), and also could write poems. He seeked the beauty on artistic forms, and to a degree, showed the tendency to bring forth new ideas in the writing. He got some achievements which was less than that of Lu Ji. Qing Xing(it refers to the literary idea of seeking flowery language, concise language, and expressing authentic emotions,清省) was the core of his literary idea. He advocated Fu Qing Er Yan (it refers to a literary view of revealing true feelings, 附情而言) and Qing Wen (it refers to articles which must revealing true feelings, 情文).The literary idea that was a clear stream in the literary circles of the Western Chin in which many writers seeked flowery language greatly influenced many literary critics.Past researches on Lu Yun are very few, and have something to do with literary theories or poem criticism, etc. But they are not deep, thorough and systematic.My thesis is based on past researches, and trys to study Lu Yun, his creative work and his literary idea in a possibly objective way. It includes three parts.The first part examines the history of Lu Yun research. Based on poems, proses and historical materials, this part introduces the life and background of Lu Yun to the reader. Meanwhile, it describes the aspects of Lu Yun research in different periods.The second part examines Lu Yun and his family. This part analyses the causes of formation and contents of Lu Family Culture Tradition and their influences on Lu Yun. Based on this, it compares the literary ideas between Lu Yun and his brother Lu Ji.The third part examines the communication between Lu Yun's literary works and the literary trends of thought of the Western Chin, places emphasis on Lu Yun's Fu, Prose and Poem, and studys Lu Yun's success and failure in literary creation.
