| The paper mainly explores the evolution process of Chinese word "zi" from　content word to classification component and to suffix, revealing that its important grammar function is nounization. Noun suffix "zi" in Chinese language appeared about 1500 years ago. During this long course of historical changes, noun suffix "zi" has gradually gained its ground. Up to now, It has become a very powerful noun suffix in Chinese language. Whose use not only deals with the Structure of Chinese nouns, but their semantic expressions as well.This paper, on the basis of analyzing a lot of materials concerned, attaches great importance to describing and analyzing the evolution time hiberarchy of "zi". And it puts forth seven general principles controlling the use of noun suffix "zi" in Chinese language. |
