This essay ascertains criterion of affix, researches into active affixs drawn the outline of word-building's character on the clue that is Chinese's diachronic development clue according to literature language in every period, using the methods and fruits of scholars previous and present for reference. It's intended to offer literature language material and uniform terms, criterion. It's divided into six chapters.Chapter One: Introduction; Chapter Two :Prefix "a"(阿): Chapter Three: Affix "lao"(老): Chapter Four: Suffix "tou"(头);Chapter Five: Suffix "zi" (子) ;Chapter Six: epilogue.This essay looks back the current research situation of affix, analyzes the reasons on affix's confusion and brings forward the criterion of affix. Furthermore ,the essay analyze the representative affix concretely: prefix "a"(阿), affix "lao"(老), suffix "tou"(头)and suffix "zi" (子) .The essay reviews each their origin, then analyzes their instance particularly in ancient Chinese word-building combined with its usage and diachronic development. Finally, this essay draws a conclusion that affix is a important word-building way in ancient Chinese. A great lot literature proves that these are some affixs added to a certain word universally; the research and analysis on individual affix contribute to our understanding the rules of Chinese glossary.
