Application Of Fuzzy Language In Translation

Fuzziness is an inherent characteristic of human language. As an important part and common feature of language which reflects the objective world and people's thoughts, fuzzy language widely occurs and is applied in various aspects and fields. The appropriate use of fuzzy language constitutes an important criterion of the communicative competence of English speakers.This paper mainly deals with the application of fuzzy language and the possible strategies in translation. Apart from the description of he characteristic and linguistic forms of fuzzy language, this paper also discusses the fuzzy language and its translation from the perspective of etymology, lexicology and rhetoric. In addition, the aesthetic and humorous effects as well as the politeness in communication realized by fuzzy language are also given full displays which serves as a manifestation of the importance of fuzzy language.
