Kuriyagawa requires writers to go outside "the ivory tower" and calls for their active participation in social life. He also insists on social criticism and civilized criticism. Lu Xun identifies himself with these ideas. As far as the view of literature is concerned specifically, these two writers share the view of literature by combining ontology with epistemology, which is represented by "symbolism in a broad sense" in the devices used in their literary creation. From the dimension of life philosophy, both facing despair and depression, Lu Xun and Kuriyagawa respectively made a choice of "hopeless resistance" and "depressed symbol" in view of "mediums" and "the broad life of the universe and humans". However, the different choices of life embody their similar life situation. In addition, in the history of modern Chinese literature, there's a special phenomenon called "Kuriyagawa phenomenon". The formation of such a phenomenon in the history of literature, to some extent, indicates Lu Xun's acceptance of Kuriyagawa.
