Studies In Literati Who Were Banished Or Transported In Tang Dynasty

In the Tang dynasty, the enforcement of the imperial examination made it possible for the common literati to achieve political dream. Meanwhile, the system of banishment became perfect more and more, and the literati banished were more than before. What's more, it's usual that the officials were banished from court to strange and remote place to live in. These factors works together, and then a lot of literati who had been banished or transported became.The numerous banished or transported literati and their creative literature added luster to the Chinese ancient literature in the long history of 300 years of Tang dynasty. In the wide land of this powerful empire, the literati had a chance to be banished or transported to any remote and desolate place.In point of the culture of Tang dynasty, we all know that Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism coexisted at that time. But the idea of Confucianism, including contributing all to the society and the people, was always dominant. The literati, meanwhile they were officials, persist in this idea. On the other hand, they could not endure the hardships during the punishment. So they had inclined toward Taoism and Buddhism for their spirit's freedom.In fact, there were no study works till now on the literati who had been banished or transported and their creative literature. And some paper were unilateral on this thesis. This paper will expound this thesis from three sides: the literati's region contribution, the literati's change of amount in different period, the literati's psychology showed in their literature.
