A verb can not only rhetoric a noun immediately but also have the aid of "de" to attribute a noun.However ,many specialists in grammar make an deep study into the former, It's a pity that fewer relate to the latter especially in classical and modern Chinese.Based on the HongLoumeng that is the typical work in modern times, the thesis makes overall investigation on the verb as an attributive in the two forms of the book, analyses thoroughly theirs sentence pattern, dug deeply theirs semantic relations and change forms.Then, by comparison between the two, the thesis tries to explain the condition and the characteristic of an attributive verb.Thereby conclusions are made as follows: first, in HongLoumeng ,the principles of valency have a great influence upon an attributive verb and noun.The Valency restrict the collocation of attributive verb and noun.Second, the function of the "V+de+N" phrase in HongLoumeng is the same as a noun.Third, in HongLoumeng the "V+de+N" phrase is good at describing things,while the "V+N" attributive phrase is very solidifiable.Fourth, when an attributive verb coexist with other attributives, the word order is decided by its rhetoric meaning in different position.The thesis is made up of seven parts:The first is about the preface.The second is about the characteristic of verb and noun in the "V+de+N" phrase.The third is about the semantical relationship of "V" and "N".The fourth is about the syntactical and semantical function of "V+de+N" phrase.The fifth is about the "V+N" phrase.The sixth is the conclusion remained.The seventh is the conclusion of the whole thesis.
