Jiang Mian(1462-1532) was born in Quanzhou, Guangxi Province. He spent his most time in the period of Hongzhi, Zhengde and the early Jiaqing of the Ming Dynasty. Jiang once was the chief cabinet advisor, which rangked the highest official position ever held by anyone from Quanzhou. He was a famous scholor in the Ming Dynasty, but with few poems and prose passed down to today, among which Xianggao Anthology hasn't yet been researched on. This inevitably is a huge gap for us to grasp the literature history of Guangxi in the Middle-Ming Dynasty. This dissertation has a deep and elaborate collation and annotation on this anthology for reduction of errors and resumption of its originality, correction of inaccurate punctuations and annotations, and for detailed and precise annotations and analysis on the obscure characters, allusions, quotations and historical facts so that the average readers can understand the prose. On the other hand, this dissertation has a brief introduction of Jiang Mian's time in Ming dynasty, the cultural environment and literature world in that period, and a thorough research on his extraction and life, and the theme, the artistic style of his prose, especially it's a more comprehensive research about the literary characteristics of biograph. These tasks are fulfilled to give a just comment on Jiang Mian's achievement in literature and make readers have a comprehensive understanding of this anthology. This dissertation presents my efforts in carrying forward Guangxi's splendid culture, especially the collation and annotation of ancient works of Quanzhou area.
