Ego-identity is a characteristic formed by interaction of internal and external factors, during which much information is integrated, contradictions are adjusted and finally, a perfect & harmonious self is actualized.The ego-identity characteristics and its affecting factors of Mongolian college students are explored through investigating 553 Mongolian students from the angel of gender, grade, subject and cultural background. The conclusions are as follows:1. Clear difference in gender is shown in the ego-identity development of Mongolian college students. Boys attach more importance in ego-identity and more liable to form Identity Achievement, in addition, the difference is related with fields.2. The ego-identity development of Mongolian college students is like a Chinese character "zhi", which is "high-low-high-low" with most crises in grade 1, critical exploration in grade 2, purity in grade 3 and new crisis combining conformity in higher standard in grade 4.3. The prominent status of ego-identity in Mongolian college students is Identity Moratorium . College life is a normal moratorium , in which pure ego-identity could be formed after active seeking.4. The difference in subject is shown in the ego-identity development of Mongolian college students. Science students score higher than art students inmost fields in Identity Foreclosure, moreover, there are more science students in the process of early closing in ego-identity development.5. The cultural background only differs in a few sub-fields during the ego-identity development of Mongolian college students.6. The ego-identity development of Mongolian college students differs in fields.7. If schools help students establish good relation system, build free, open and promising atmosphere, the ego-identity development of Mongolian college students can be promoted.8. Various parenting style is essential for the ego-identity development of Mongolian college students and make difference in the fields of ego-identity. Fathers and mothers play disparate role in this process.
