Xu Hun was an important writer in the Late Tang Dynasty ,who was as famous as Du Mu, Li Shang-yin, Wen Ting-yun and has brought to academic circle's attention at present. This article will analyze the connection between his ideology and poetry through his association poems, landscape poems and historical poems.This thesis consists of quotation and text.The quotation will introduce all his life and his position in the circle of poets in the Late Tang Dynasty, and present situation of researching him, and this article's meaning and target.The first chapter will analyze his thought on being an official and seclusion on the basis of his association poems, and drew a conclusion that at first he was eager to pursue on official career, but determined to be a hermit after that. Before he was an official, he frequently interviewed influential officials, and wanted to get aids from them, which showed his enthusiasm of being an official. Though he loves Buddhism and Taoism, pursuing an official still was his chief goal in this stage. When he became an official, he kept a large and close association with necromancers and hermits. Having not been employed at high levels, he was gradually determined to be a hermit.The second chapter analyzed his landscape poems and wants to research his spirit paradise in them and thousands of his humid poems. Xu Hun's landscape poems consist of three parts, the first is showing his seclusion and the feature is quiet. The second occurred in his roam which feature is powerful. The third shows his sorrow of parting, which has a style of sadness and sentiment. His landscape poems had its unique aesthetic style, using more "water" is the main character. The author think it is connected with his smooth personality, but excessive using will be criticized by later generations.The third chapter will discuss on his historical poems. Section one is on suffering thought of his poems. The author believes suffering thought is a main distinguish feature of Chinese scholars'. And the author will analyze his historical poems from three aspects: these poems which concerned about his sovereign, his people and himself.
