On Logical Thinking

The thesis is made up of two parts: preface and main body. Preface: Through the historical review of logical thinking research, the thesis points out the bias existed in the studying and the necessity to do the research on the logical thinking itself. The main body :The main body is divided into three parts——the definition of logical thinking, characteristic and its types. First part: the definition about logical thinking. By giving examples and making comparison with many kinds of logical thinking definition, the author comes up with three majoy definition types: the logical thinking of broad sense﹑the logical thinking of narrow sense and symbolic logical thinking. The author also points out the differences and connection amony these three definitions. Most people equate logical thinking with abstract thinking. The thesis tries to distinguish the two from a philosophical and logical research angle and discusses the concepts——that is regarding logical thinking (narrow sense) as the abstract thinking (broadly——defined logical thinking). The third major kind of definition means one of the types of the logical thinking (narrow sense) mainly——logical thinking of mathematics and physics in formalized logical thinking. Second part: characteristic of logical thinking. The characteristic of logical thinking is determined by the intension of logical thinking, the main chracteristic is abstraction and systematization , etc. The third part: types of logical thinking. Based on the analysis foundation of the definition and characteristic, the author draws out from analysing the three types: Daily (ordinary) logical thinking﹑formalized logical thinking and dialectical logical thinking. Daily (ordinary) logical thinking is a kind of logical thinking widely used in our daily life, while tightness and formalized degree of logical thinking are much more higher mainly used in various kinds of subjects and academic fields. Differing from the contradiction between avoidance and repelling, dialectical logical thinking acknowledges and studies the contradiction. These three kinds of logical thinking types are complementary.
