A Report On C-E Translation Of Environmental Technology Patent From The Perspective Of Logical Thinking

With the growing attention on intellectual property right,the number of international patent applications of China has been dramatically increasing.In 2017,China has become the second largest country applying for international patents.However,at present,there are still problems in the field of patent translation in China,such as low translation quality,and insufficient translation research.Therefore,the importance of patent translation research is self-evident.The report is based on the translation practice of three Chinese patent specifications in the field of environmental technology.The report explores the application of logical thinking in Chinese-English patent translation.As a special kind of scientific text,patent document has characteristics of rigor,objectivity and logicality;neglecting logical thinking will lead to lexical mistranslation,logical confusion,ambiguity,contradiction and other problems.The report analyzes the relationship between logical thinking and patent translation,and discusses in detail the feasibility of applying conceptual thinking of logic,logical laws and logical analysis in solving the above problems from the perspective of logical thinking.Logical thinking can effectively help translators analyze the logical relationship between words,avoid logical errors,and identify implicit logical relationships.Thus,translators can adjust translation strategies in a timely manner and further improve the quality of translation.The report first introduces the content,background and significance of the translation project.Next,the report describes the process of pre-translation preparation,translation implementation and post-translation proofreading.Then the report gives an introduction to the relationship between logical thinking and patent translation,and uses cases to discuss the application of logical thinking in patent translation from three aspects,which are using conceptual thinking to define the meaning of word,using logical laws to avoid illogical expressions and using logical analysis to clarify implicit logical relationships.The report aims to prove that logical thinking has a guiding role in patent translation.Translators can use logical thinking to deepen the understanding of source text,improve the preciseness and logical coherence of the translation,and thus further raise the success rate of patent applications.It is hope that the report can provide reference for the practice and research of patent translation in the future.
