In Japanese and Korean, there are many adverbs of time, and they can have their unique semantic character with verbal predicate. In these two languages, adverbs have close relationship the tense and quality of the verbal predicate and the time of speech. his passage firstly makes a semantic analysis of the typical adverbs in these two languages which indicate present, past and future("ぃま,もぅ,まだ"与"?"), and then compares correction of the adverbs of time matching different predicate. According to the part of speech, predicates are classified verbal predicate, noun predicate and adjective predicate. On this basis, the matching character between Japanese adverbs of time and different predicates and its corresponding relation in Korean have been discussed in this passage. In order to reveal the function of indicating time of the adverbs of time in Japanese and Korean, the author classifies Japanese verbal adverbs durational verbs, instant verbs, state verbs and motional verbs, and compares them with the mentioned adverbs of time. Viewed from matching relation of the verbal predicates, the function indicating time of the adverbs of time is obviously different in these two languages. As all the adverbs of time in these two languages have a time set-point which can range from the near past to the near future, they ( "ぃま,もぅ,まだ" and "?" ) can be largely affected by the tenses of the verbal predicates, especially the word (?) in Korean, it can indicate the time further than the speaker expects and the period of time has a certain flexibility with the change of the the speaker' s psychology. Viewed from the aspect the correlation between the adverbs of time and the auxiliary words, only a few Japanese adverbs of time can be matched with auxiliary words. On the contrary, almost all Korean adverbs of time can be matched with auxiliary words except a few situations. The above mentioned adverbs in both Japanese and Korean have almost the same semantic meaning because they all have the same time set-point when they used with the noun predicate, adjective (adjective verbs).Through the comparison between Japanese and Korean adverbs of time, the author further clarifies the common ground and differences between these two kinds of adverbs of time indicating time function. It would be helpful for Japanese acquisition and Japanese study.
