"Qi", which can be seen ubiquitously in Chinese traditional philosophy, is the unique feature for China. To know and understand "Qi" is to gain a mastery of the spirit and idiosyncrasy of traditional philosophy. It holds various and multi-level meanings in traditional philosophy, but it serves mainly as a important role for exploring and studying the origin of human being and the universe, and the existence and disappearance of life forms.The philosophy of traditional "Qi" has penetrated into all kinds of domains such as music, architecture, medical field, the five elements of Yin and Yang, and so on. However not until written by Caopi did "Qi" come into the domain of literary theory officially, thus called " Wen Qi" (Wen means literature), and since then, it becomes a important element in Chinese traditional literary theory. Provided that Caopi is the creator of "Wen Qi" and thus takes a quite important position in the history of "Wen Qi" development, and then Liuxie is the creator of the Full State of "Wen Qi" theory, and thus more influential than Caopi. Since Liuxie establised the Full State of "Wen Qi" theory, a majority of scholars elucidated the "Wen Qi" theory further based on it.Liuxie's "Wen Qi" theory, fundamentally boils down to two categories, physical state and spiritual state, in which the physical state of "Wen Qi" centers on the section of (Ti means the body) which contends the formation of theory is contingent on the physical existence of human body and emphasizes on "Ren Qi"(Ren means human being), and the spiritual state of "Wen Qi" theory centers on the section of (it means mind) which contends the formation of theory should emphasize on the "Sheng Qi" of human being.
