Shi Tuo ,one of the most famous provincial writers in the Chinese literary circles . Between 1930s and 1940s , Once he won artistic scholarship of Da Gong Newspaper. He created an orchard city world in his characteristic novels,therefore set up his position in Chinese literature. This paper intend to regard his local color novels as the research object ,probe into his thought features as well as his art style .A study of his provincial writing will be helpful to study the grneral Chinese modern provincial writings. This paper includes two parts. In the first part I will brirfly introduce Shi Tuo's life and his writing and generally elucidate the symbolic world in his novels. In his novels,he created two images:the images of relics and tramps. Through depicting the images of relics, Shi Tuo criticized the reality, meditated the Chinese patriarchal traditions,and sang the life of person .Through depicting the tramps, reveal the confusion of spiritual downfall but their spirits of continous pursuit, which symbolizes the spiritual state and journey of a generation of intellectuals in the transitional era. The second part is aimed at Shi Tuo's artistic pursuit and aesthetic inclination .In order to realize novels'more general meaning, Shi Tuo chose the way of simplification and generalizing. Meanwhile,he also used flexiable narrative structures and perspectives.Shi Tuo's novels are characterized by associating the fierce and piercing criticism of backward social reality with obvious and acute subjective feelings.His novels have been well-known for the particular feature of depicting reality and expressing feelings.
