This essay first explores how humanism influences English methodology. By conducting a survey of more than a thousand students, it explains the individual differences presented in the learners' learning practice and values the importance of individualization of task designing. After the analyses of the relationship between the task designing and learning styles, curriculum resources, teacher-student relationship, characteristic building-up and teaching environment, it illustrates the functions of the individualized tasks and focuses on the exploration of models of the individualized task-based teaching. To be practical and concrete, many examples of tasks and some samples of individualized task-based teaching are given, which lights up a new way to the development of English teaching.
