High school students have their particular traits on EI (Emotional Intelligence) and interpersonal relation. By the way of questionnaire, a study was conducted in order to reveal their characteristics of EI and interpersonal relation as well as the correlations between EI, interpersonal relation and learning performance. 454 students from some key high schools in Hangzhou participated in this study. All the data are analysed with SPSS10.0 and LISREL 8.7. The results indicate:1) The high school students' score on emotion perception subscale is relatively low. The score on managing self emotion subscale is higher than those on managing others' subscale. There are significant gender and grade differences on EI. The female students get higher score than male students on managing others' subscale, and at the grade 3, the students get the highest scores managing self emotion and emotion utilization subscale.2) High school students' relation with peers is quite good. The interpersonal relation between same sex is better than between different sex. The students have better relation with their parents than with their teachers. Female students show more advantages on association with their parents and same-sex friends while male students show more advantages on association with their opposite-sex friends and teachers. High school students' supportive relationship with parents, teachers and peers achieve their best at the grade 2.3) High school students' EI is a good index for predicting their interpersonal relation, it correlates positively with their supportive interpersonal relation and negatively with their negative interpersonal relation.4) There's significant difference between high EI group and low EI group on the score of Chinese course. But EI is not a direct predictor for learning performance.El could influence learning performance only when the interpersonal relation being a mediate variable.5) High school students' interpersonal relation correlated significantly with their learning performance. Those relations, including supportive relationship with mother, opposite-sex friends and negative relationship with teachers, desk-mate, same-sex friends, could predict academic performance directly.
