The Study On Variant Forms Of Chinese Characters In Pei Wuqi Zhengziben Kanmiu Buque Qieyun

Pei Wuqi Zhengziben Kanmiu Buque Qieyun(裴务齐正字本《刊谬补缺切韵》) is oneof Qieyuns(《切韵》), which has a collection of variant forms of Chinese characters of Weijin(魏晋) to Tang(唐)dynasty. These materials are valuable in the study of Chinese characters.We take them as the research objects;namely, carrying on exhaustive collection to checkvariant forms of a Chinese character in the book. Guided by the theory of the formation ofChinese characters, we carry on the qualitative analysis towards the material. The paperclassifies the variant forms of Chinese characters into two categories. One category which isformed with the same words, has the same function to express the words correctly;the otheris the different scripts of the same characters. As for the fomer we analysis their directcomponents and summarize the law of different style of their formation: Firstly, the partsexpressing the same meaning have 39 in total;Secondly, most parts expressing thepronunciation don,t have the same components;Thirdly, the characters with the same functionin expressing the words on the same structural methods are much more than the different ones.Guided by the method of historical comparison, concerning the analysis of different style ofhandwriting, and the psychology and habitation of people, writing, the latter is furtherlyclassified and summarized according to the law of people, writing: Firstly, the variation for themost of different styles of handwriting are owing to the strokes of character increase,reduction or variation. Secondly, the different scripts of the same words;that is to say, thedifferent positions of a character,s components become less and less.The study on the variant forms of Chinese characters would be helpful for the research ofChinese character history, the compilation of large-scale dictionaries, the massivearrangement of the Chinese characters, and the textual criticism and explanation of thedifficult characters in the large-scale dictionaries.
